Why is it important to be ready for E-Invoicing?
As of January 1st, 2025, the E-Invoicing obligation will apply to the B2B sector within the same state. The aim is to simplify controls and meet EU requirements to prevent VAT fraud. Further information can be found in the blog article Prepare for Mandatory E-Invoicing in 2025. For companies in Germany, the following deadlines must be observed:
- As of January 1st, 2025, companies in Germany must be able to receive electronic invoices.
- As of January 1st, 2028, E-Invoices must be fully compliant with EN16931.
- Transitional periods allow invoices in EDI format until the end of 2027 and paper, PDF or JPG invoices until the end of 2026 if the recipient agrees.
